CHELD Joins WHO Disability Health Equity Network

The Centre for Health Ethics, Law and Development (CHELD) is proud to announce its membership in the World Health Organisation (WHO) Disability Health Equity Network!

The WHO Disability Health Equity Network brings together a diverse coalition of stakeholders including organisations of persons with disabilities, civil society organizations, and member states working collectively to advance the WHO Disability Health Equity Initiative. The Network’s central mission is to promote coordinated global action to close the persistent and unjust health gaps experienced by persons with disabilities.

Selected out of over 1200 applications, CHELD joins Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Health and 151 other organisations from around the world including Australia, United Kingdom, the US, Kenya, UAE, Zimbabwe, etc, to support the mainstreaming of disability in the health sector.

Through this membership, CHELD reaffirms its commitment to mainstreaming disability in health care policy and practice in Nigeria, Africa and beyond, and advancing inclusive health policies and strengthening equity-driven approaches to health and human rights in Nigeria and across Africa.
