Child Protection and Health
Dedicated to advancing the
rights, safety, and wellbeing of children
CHELD’s Child Protection and Health Programme is dedicated to advancing the rights, safety, and wellbeing of children, with a particular focus on those affected by poverty, abuse, neglect, exploitation, displacement, and weak access to essential services. The programme adopts a rights-based and child-centred approach that recognises the interconnected nature of child protection and health outcomes across social, legal, and service delivery systems.
Our work focuses on strengthening child protection systems at all levels through policy support, institutional capacity development, community engagement, and evidence-based advocacy. We collaborate with government institutions, health authorities, justice sector actors, civil society organisations, and community structures to improve prevention, early identification, referral, and response mechanisms for child protection violations.
In the area of child health, CHELD supports initiatives that promote access to quality, inclusive, and responsive health services for children, particularly the most vulnerable. This includes work on maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health, mental health and psychosocial support, nutrition, and health system accountability. We prioritise interventions that address social determinants of health and reduce disparities linked to gender, disability, migration status, and socio-economic conditions.
Through strategic partnerships and sustained engagement, CHELD seeks to contribute to safer environments, stronger systems, and improved health and protection outcomes for children.
