This session, the fourth in the series, will focus on Security and Migrants’ Health and will be held on Thursday, 14th December 2023 at 2:30 p.m. WAT.
Security and Migrants Health is very relevant and important in the current global context, as millions of people are forced to migrate due to conflicts, violence, persecution, poverty, and environmental disasters. Migrants face many challenges and risks to their health and well-being, such as exposure to infectious diseases, mental stress, discrimination, exploitation, and human rights violations. Moreover, migrants can also pose security threats to their host countries, such as spreading diseases, engaging in criminal activities, or becoming involved in terrorism.
The aim of this session on Security and Migrants Health is to explore the various aspects of security and migrants’ health and to identify the best practices and policies to address them. We will also share our experiences and perspectives on the topic, and learn from each other. The discussion will be facilitated by Prof Cheluchi Onyemelukwe and Dr Ifeanyi Nsofor, renowned experts on migration and health issues.
